Friday, 10th May, 2024 …Ms. Eva Mends, Chief Director of the Finance Ministry has congratulated the Ministry’s Sports team for their hard work and effort which won the Ministry a bronze medal in the football tournament at the just ended Inter-Ministerial Sports Tournament of the 2024 Civil Service week celebration.
The team also won the Golden Boots Trophy and the Fair-Play Trophy for complying to the rules of the football tournament.
At a brief Staff Durbar to honour the gallant Sports Team, the Chief Director noted that, the path to this achievement was fraught with challenges. “Yet I saw for myself how determined and organized you were as a team.”
Ms. Eva Mends added that the Team members, found time to undertake office duties and also saw to “MoF family needs. You exhibited remarkable determination, resilience, and sportsmanship throughout the training sessions and matches, thereby affirming your mettle on the field,” she added.
Chief Director noted that although the team could not take the first place, "every win is a win and should be celebrated. Winning the third place in the tournament still represents a significant accomplishment in the world of sports”, she added.
Ms. Mends also encouraged the Team to keep striving for greatness and urged them to bring the Cup home next year. She presented a total of thirty-seven (37) bronze medals to the players and technical team.
Ms. Eva Mends used the occasion to congratulate herself, Mrs. Felicia Ashley (Director HCGAD), Dr Oteng Osei Asante (Principal Economic Officer), Juliana Oye Danso (Senior Private Secretary) for winning various categories of awards at the 2023 Civil Service awards ceremony.
She further announced initiatives including forming MoF Ladies football team and instituting a monthly Happy-hour Networking session for staff of the Ministry which will go a long way to foster bonding among staff.
Director Human Capital and General Administration, Ms. Felicia Gyamfi-Ashley also congratulated the MoF Team for their sense of duty, team spirit and living the Ministry of Finance PEER values throughout the football tournament. She also thanked the MoF planning members of the Civil Service Week and the MoF sports team for successfully organising the programme.
On his part, the Head Coach, David Kotey thanked Management of the Ministry for the encouragement and for cheering them on. He thanked the Team members for their efforts and cooperation during training sessions and match days.
The Head Coach indicated that the Ministry won the Golden Boots trophy and also took the Fair-Play trophy for complying to the rules of the football tournament.
