Accra, 17th March 2024 – Kristalina Georgieva, the IMF Managing Director has arrived in Accra for a three-day visit. She was met on arrival at the Kotoka International Airport by Hon Mohammed Amin Adam, (MP), Minister for Finance and other officials of the Fund and the Ministry.
During the visit she is expected to hold bilateral talks with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Minister for Finance, and the Governor of the Bank of Ghana.
On Monday, the Managing Director will speak at an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Summit to be jointly hosted by the Ministry and the IMF.
The Summit under the theme “AI as a catalyst to Transform Economies in Sub-Saharan Africa” seeks to unravel the challenges and opportunities AI poses for developing countries like Ghana.
She will also visit the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, meet with CSOs, and hold a briefing session with the media. END
